Out of School At Risk Youth Program

The Waters & Sims At Risk Youth Program is a 13 week program that offers out of school youth ages 16-24 a safe learning environment where they will receive instruction in the START Program/ Introduction to Leisure, Hospitality & Retail Careers Program. This program provides the student with 13 weeks of high quality vocational training in the Leisure, Hospitality and Retail industries (LHR), and the opportunity to obtain a professional certification through the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI). In addition student will receive assistance with resume writing, job searching, interview preparation and life skills counseling. We also work closely with Brookdale Community College where there is a free GED preparation course for additional assistance. The students may also use their time in our program to work on and practice for the GED test and Waters & Sims will pay the fee for the student to take the GED test. While in the program, students have the opportunity to earn a cash stipend for attending the instructional portion of the program. All youth are also eligible for a monthly bus pass while they are enrolled in the program.

Interested participants must meet income eligibility or have a recent IEP from the current year of enrollment. All students will be certified for the program by Monmouth County DWD. Any questions please contact our Program Coordinator, Jessica Phillips.
